Should it Take Crises to Care?

Hey there, apples of His eye 🤭. This is some food for both thought AND energy to take action.You know how the bible has all those stories that the people should obey God but after many warnings they don’t? Then something bad happens and then they start to care? In Ezekiel, we see that God punished Jerusalem and repeated over 20 times after each punishment that “Then you will know that I am the Lord your God”. God had been calm, loving and merciful to them yet they turned to idols and ungodly things WITHOUT APOLOGY. It wasn’t until God took drastic action, that they saw how serious He was and noticed Him. It wasn’t until extreme circumstances screamed for their attention that they started to care.

Think about it. Throughout childhood, many Caribbean parents instruct us not to have a girlfriend or boyfriend because education comes first. They tell us not to play with matches or to come out of the rain because we can get sick. You name it. It wasn’t until we ourselves got hurt or experienced someone close to us get hurt before we would even think to listen- someone ended up in the hospital, got a suspension, went to jail, got pregnant or some form of unfortunate circumstance. (And some of us still didn’t listen!)

This is a call to CARE WITHOUT CRISES. To care BEFORE our own loved ones go missing, our own friend loses their life, BEFORE our own little relatives are affected by our INACTION and LACK OF CARE in the first place. Let’s stop waiting for crises to care. We need to care enough when it doesn’t have anything to do with us. When we can’t see how solving a problem will benefit us at all.

Lastly, has it occurred to you that everything that Christ does is for our sake? How did it benefit the God of the universe to send His son to die for us? How does it benefit God to create us so we can create havoc on earth and hurt each other? To get saved and live out purpose and be happy? Get that wife and dream car? GOD IS GOOD ALL BY HIMSELF. No matter what happens here on earth, He is on His throne in Heaven! He has all the power, He knows everything and can do anything. YET, He created us knowing all the damage we would do and has ONLY LOVE for each of us. He cares to warn us and instruct us in every situation, and at no cost to us because Jesus Christ already PAID EVERYTHING. Recall the lyrics “You didn’t want heaven without us, so Jesus you brought heaven down”. Be like Jesus. When bad situations have nothing to do with you, be Christ-like before something outrageous happens, even if it won’t affect you. Don’t let it TAKE CRISES TO CARE.
